چکیده

Development of artificial scaffold for musculoskeletal applications, especially in load-bearing situations, requires the consideration of biomechanical aspects for its integrity and its function. However, the biomechanical loading could also be used to favour tissue formation through mechano-transduction phenomena. Design of scaffold could take advantages of this intrinsic mechanical loading.

Intramembranous Bone Healing Process Subsequent to Tooth Extraction in Mice: Micro-Computed Tomography, Histomorphometric and Molecular Characterization

Bone tissue has a significant potential for healing, which involves a significant the interplay between bone and immune cells. While fracture healing represents a useful model to investigate endochondral bone healing, intramembranous bone healing models are yet to be developed and characterized. In this study, a micro-computed tomography, histomorphometric and molecular (RealTimePCRarray) chara...

Efficacy of high resolution computed tomography for detection of early healing in scaphoid fractures

Background: While plain radiography is commonly used to assess scaphoid fracture, this imaging modality may not accurately demonstrate early bone healing. This investigation evaluates the utility of 64-slice CT in the detection of early fracture healing compared to plain radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Outpatients attending follow-up visits for scaphoid fractures at H...

Back injuries in the young athlete.

The diagnosis of back pain in the young athlete should be specific and not attributed to nonspecific, mechanical causes. Risk factor identification and intervention are required. Treatment is then initiated in a specific pattern, addressing flexibility and muscular imbalances. Bracing is often used to allow healing of growth tissue. The lumbosacral orthosis may be molded in a lordotic posture t...

Back injuries in young fast bowlers--a radiological investigation of the healing of spondylolysis and pedicle sclerosis.

OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the efficacy of various radiological diagnostic modalities in assessing lower back pain in young fast bowlers. METHODS Ten cricketers who presented to either a physiotherapist or a doctor with suspected spondylolysis underwent an X-ray, a single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) bone scan and a computed tomography (CT) scan to assess the severity of the inju...
